2024 International Students Chuseok Festival

On September 12, 2024, Global College of Kyungsung University hosted its annual Chuseok Festival for international students, providing an exciting opportunity to celebrate Korea's rich cultural traditions. Students were welcomed with a festive atmosphere and were treated to Songpyeon, a traditional rice cake specially made for the Chuseok holiday.

Throughout the day, students had the chance to immerse themselves in various traditional Korean games and activities. They enthusiastically participated in Tuho, a classic arrow-throwing game, and Kite flying, which allowed them to experience the joy of sending colorful kites into the sky. Another highlight was the opportunity to create personalized bookmarks featuring their names written in Hangul, offering a memorable and creative way to engage with the Korean language.

The festival also introduced students to Gonggi, a traditional Korean game involving small stones, and Yutnori, a team-based board game that has been played for centuries in Korea. Additionally, they tried their foot at Jegichagi, a game similar to hacky sack, testing their agility and coordination.

The Chuseok Festival not only allowed students to experience these traditional games but also offered a moment of unity, fostering a deeper understanding of Korean culture and creating lasting memories for all who participated. The event reflected the university’s commitment to celebrating cultural diversity while sharing the beauty of Korea’s heritage with students from around the world.
